Cake week!

It seems we’ve had a lot of cakes to get done this week – my wonderful cousin, Lauren, has a birthday this coming Sunday, so her parents celebrated with a tall red velvet cake with traditional frosting – absolutely wonderful! They wanted fruit on it to make it a “red white and blue” cake, so they got fruit! I made the cake, but Stephane blueberried it:

We did quite a few cupcakes for a birthday in the family of Megan, our first customer! It was good to see her in the shop again.
We did another cake for a young lady turning 18 today named Alexandria. She wanted pink and black and a white cake with strawberry bavarian cream inside. Delicious! We used fondant to give her the color choices she’d wanted and I think it turned out great! I’m finding that there’s always at least three things that go wrong with any cake but they’re mostly fixable. Hers turned out wonderfully and I am very pleased with the cake bling and ultimately the look of it:

Have a very happy 4th of July! The bakery will be closed Saturday for the 4th but we will be at the Clark Fork River Market as always!
